Yesterday, when the boys got together:)

Like I mentioned in my earlier post, I brought Julius, my sis and mum to the cable ski park yesterday. It was fun for me, but I guess for them, it’s just watching. I hope Julius don’t remember how I fell. After the session, we packed lunch and brought them over to my place so Julius can play with the dogs.

The boys were so excited to see him. Julius was erm… excited to see them as well I guess. He was trying to yank off Kenji’s hair and beat his fists whenever kago comes near. Kago was like…running circles around him. It’s quite funny. But we have to keep a close watch on the boys, especially Kago, in case he gets too rough. All was fine till Julius was tired and started to get cranky. It’s a good thing that he’s not afraid of dogs:D

Dinner at Pietrasanta

Met Elaine and Ammar to discuss about their wedding plans this coming May at Wessex estate. I was introduced to this cosy little italian restaurant, Pietrasanta. I’m not exactly a big fan of italian food, partly because… erm, I don’t really know how to eat pasta without making a mess out of it (someone should just give me chopsticks!!… ya ya, i chinaman can?).

Since we’re already there and not wanting to reveal my handicap, I decided to just order something that won’t require me to twist and turn with a fork. Then I saw gnoochi with blue cheese. I remembered having gnoochi sometime back, pretty unforgettable experience too. So I decided to give it a try. Ammar did warn me about blue cheese. And being a cheesy person (no pun intended), I thought, it should be fine.

I wasn’t disappointed, these homemade stuff are really awesome. I’m not very good with food description, but all I can say is, I’ll definitely go back for more. After dinner, we had a little chat with the chef, Loris, whom I found out, used to operate the pizza takeaway at Holland Village. It was only then I realized I actually ordered pizzas from them before when I was working at Ayer Rajah. It’s a really small world!

We talked and talked… and before we know it, it’s 1230am. I don’t know is it just me, but I seemed to be getting more talkative these days. But it’s a good thing (At least I won’t get teachers asking me to stand at a corner with finger on my lips:P).

edit: Here’s the location. It’s at the intersection of Portsdown Road and Whitchurch Road. (closed on Tuesdays)

chris + pris

This is one of the most happening wedding, with surprises coming from both sides of the camp. Just before the wedding, Pris sent me an email telling me about a surprise item that she will be performing for Chris. On that day itself, Chris pulled a surprise on her before she even got to her item by doing a solo singing performance. Just when Chris thought it’s over, Pris walked on stage with her friends and belted out “I will follow you” with props and all. Fantastico!:D

Performances and surprises aside, Chris’s dad speech was especially touching. Just when I thought it’s over, the couple delivered another tear jerking speech. By the end of the night, I was totally dehydrated. Thanks for having me on such a wonderful night:D

negotiable

 ne·go·ti·a·ble  [ni-goh-shee-uh-buhl, -shuh-buhl]

1. capable of being negotiated: a negotiable salary demand.
2. (of bills, securities, etc.) transferable by delivery, with or without endorsement, according to the circumstances, the title passing to the transferee

Received a phone call today that reminded me of this event couple of years back. A job interview. You know how they’ll get you to fill up a multi-page form, asking for personal information, family, financial matters etc. And the most important one, “expected salary”. I was told that I should put “(negotiable)” after writing down my expected salary, which I did.

A week later, I received a call and was asked to meet the HR manager, which also means, I’m likely to be offered a job. We had a chat where she tactfully did a “background check / polygraph” on me. Then looked at the space where I stated my “expected salary” and frowned.

HR: What do you mean by “negotiable”?

Me: (knowing that I’m in a good position) It means… we can discuss.

HR: But you stated your expected salary and I have no problems offering you that.

Me: I want to negotiate for a higher salary.

HR: *laughs*

I got the job and a higher than “expected salary”. Fast foward to 2008. I felt a little cranky (in a good way) after being woken up by a call while taking my afternoon nap. It was an enquiry. Conversation went as usual until this,

XX: Is your price fixed?

Me: What do you mean?

XX: Is it negotiable?

Me: Yup.

XX: Oh…

Me: I can have it higher if you want. (not the most professional reply, but hey! chill… it’s Saturday! go out and have fun! erm… but I’m working)

XX: Funny… of course not!

Me: *laughs*

That call made my day:) If you are reading this, it’s really nice talking to you. Good thing you have a sense of humour. Hope to hear from you soon:)

Remember, don’t call and negotiate prices k? Because you might end up paying more:P Just kidding…

bittersweet

Daddy came into the room, ready to walk her down the aisle. Then she asked, “where is mum? doesn’t she want to see me?”. “you mean she can?”. “of course”.

This was when both dad and mum entered the room…

I feel something very special about this image. Mixed feelings I guess.
