Well well, we’re IN the news again. Not for a very good reason though. The vacant school just 2 streets away from my place is going to be converted into a dormitory for foreign workers. How did I find out? A kind neighbour came over and asked me to sign the petition, which I did. I mean, why would I want my peaceful neighbourhood to house a dorm. I won’t even agree if they want to build a school (as “patriotic” as I am, I don’t need a bunch of kids to remind me how to raise my flag sing the national anthem every morning)!:D I want a quiet neighbourhood.
Alright, so “we” have been getting quite abit of flak on the internet, newspapers, etc. People think that “we” are acting “atas”, which I have no idea why they think that way… you don’t hear of very rich gardeners, do you?:P I don’t think anyone will like the dormitory to be built anywhere near your homes. You can write to papers about how Singaporeans should embrace foreigners and all, but tell me about it when you stay near to one. Would you move to a neighbourhood surrounded by foreign workers (if you have a choice)? Sometimes, we do certain things we do because we don’t really have a choice.
We, just like to complain, our business or not. Even if they decide to house the foreign workers in Istana, there will still be unhappy folks. Where do these foreign workers now stay anyway? Are they coming in for the IR project? Why not in Sentosa? Nearer to the source. Maybe beside Sentosa Cove:P
Ok lah, nothing personal (and definitely not serious) against those who have their own opinions ok? I don’t own this place and I’m not racist (I’m just like Russell Peters, I like to make color jokes). Better still, if the prices plummet, maybe I get better rental rates next year:) But honestly, I prefer not to… call me anything you want (someone just called me a camera?!?! ok, i shan’t go into the interpretations), but I’m not willing to have this change in my neighbourhood. If you do, you may submit a proposal to house them at your neighbourhood:)
And here’s one of my favourite songs in the 90s… neighbourhood
