mid noon drama

Speaking of drama. I was on my way to Ubi to collect the car and was talking to my housemate about dumb drivers, then we saw this TP (traffic police) in front of us. The next moment, a car right beside it decided to swerve into his lane and Mr. TP have to swerve to avoid the collision. That was the funniest shit I’ve seen on the roads for a long time. I can imagine how the driver felt when he realized what he had done. TP slowed down, signalled him to pull over. But because the road was crowded, he decided to move further up.

While he was doing that, a car in front of the TP decided to turn on his hazard lights and stop suddenly. TP jammed his brakes, pulled alongside and waved at the driver. At this point in time, the other car got away. Both of us were laughing so damn hard. What a day for the TP.

It’s really mid noon comedy.

+ve day

Sometimes we may think that certain people are bad. Specifically, people who hold certain jobs. For the past few months, a group of people pissed me off big time. For some of you, it’s probably all the time. I’m talking about parking attendents.

Today I had a positive encounter with one. I was having laksa at Katong with my car parked right in front of the shop. I didn’t any parking coupons on, knowing that I’ll be done very quickly. Halfway through my meal, a parking attendant walked towards my car. I jumped up from my seat (thick beehoon with gravy hanging off my mouth <— speaking of which, I have a picture of Ron like that…:P) and ran towards the car (ok, abit dramatized). She gave me that look like, “that’s yours?”. I nodded (beehoon flying all over as I did that). She just walked away.

Finally, there are some passionate souls around. I like today.

the dam thing

All of us had reasons to make our lunch a little longer than usual. Wendy, Daniel and me had lunch at Tiong Bahru Market before heading down to the newly opened Marina Barrage. Getting there can be a little challenging as the amount of construction works around the area makes you feel like you are driving through the desert. They seem to have very limited parking space as well.

Other than that, I think the Marina Barrage really wow-ed me. Be it the “roman pillar” lookalike walls or the “9-shaped” architecture. The most attractive area I’d say is the gallery. It’s really very well done up. I’ve never really seen a dam in action before, so this mini one is quite a spectacle to me. I stood there for quite a while, just watching the water move through the opened crest gates. Amazing stuff.

With a fantastic view of the CBD and Marina Bay area, I think this will be another hot spot for photographers, wedding couples, firework shooters… etc. Landscaping wise, I think Hort Park is much better:)

Here’s a picture of the CBD area. No photos of the architecture, my hp ran out of batteries.

Time out

Been really on my ass (literally) working through the pile of work. It’s one of those days that one feel that you can keep working forever. Better capitalise on that feeling now before I slump into that holiday mood. Updates will be a little slow for now… housekeeping in progress.

Contrast

Today, I see hope in this world. Nah, not because Obama is going to save the world. While I was exiting the petrol kiosk, a Nissan Cefiro actually gave way to me!! To top it off, a lady driver. Thanks, whoever you are:D

Kenji and Kago, our resident doorbells. The black one is the smarter one. Reminds me of the election…

ohmama

So Obama won the election and becomes the first black president. That’s good. Heard alot of good things about him, from his policies to his tan. As I was having my dinner just now, I had some random thoughts coming in. Presidents of the United States of America. I am a very channel 8 person, so I used to watch the chinese news alot and I know the political figures by their chinese (translated) names.

Bush = 布史 (that’s the original one)

But I have this habit of “modifying” people’s names… so I called him… 不死. This was ok… until his son became president as well… so we had more fun, because it’s not easy to differentiate both presidents (having the same name) in mandarin. So we referred them as, 小不死 and 老不死.

Now with this new president, his chinese translated name isn’t too confusing. But if you say it too quickly (or maybe you have food in your mouth), I think it’s going to sound like Ohmama or Osama…

Alright folks, enough work for today. Going to sleep now.

Be a man!

That Russell Peters DVD is not helping with my ever increasing laugh lines. Last Saturday at Dennis and Anne’s wedding, I was talking to Dennis about his surprise performance during the dinner and he told me he’s really nervous. I just said to him, “be a man!”. That flower girl (I don’t know how old she is, probably about 4?), picked it up immediately and told him… “be… a man!!”. I laughed so hard, but felt really bad for the parents after that… I don’t know how many hours of rehab they’ll have to put her through to “unlearn” that:P

That’s the thing. A few years back when my friend had their first kid, they invited me for their baby’s 1st month party and that was it! She claimed that I’m too dangerous for kids when they start to learn how to speak, which I did not deny:P I think I am equally dangerous to people of all ages:P

Completely russelled over

Ever seen someone so funny that you can’t crack jokes after that? I just met one yesterday. In fact, two. Russell and his opening act, Angelo. It was way too funny. Best part is, this show contains all brand new materials.

Sitting in the front row, yes, it’s an experience, but I think it can get rather stressful especially when his eyes scans towards your area. He looked straight into my eyes and said, “white guy, what’s you name?” For a moment, I was totally stunned, so stunned I can’t even remember the color of my skin. He was actually pointing to the white guy seated behind me. A sigh of relief… man, if I’m white, he’d be neon white!

All in all, two thumbs up for the great show!! Love it to bits.

After that, we headed for some durians at 717. For the guys who called me this morning, this explains why the voice sounded a little sexier.
