Race day

No BBQ tonight. I was lying on the sofa, watching the race with the 2 uninterested dogs (they can’t understand what’s so fascinating about cars going round the circuit… like some people) :P. Ordered a couple meal from KFC for myself and drank 1 litre of orange juice.

Even though the rain I was hoping didn’t come, we still see drama after drama. Funniest one being “Massa’s tail”. Classic example of how technology fails when it matters most. Some engineer’s ass gonna hurt real bad after this.

I was quite surprised to see PM Lee presenting the trophy. While he’s always at the edge of the podium, I was hoping that Alonso or Hamilton will spray the champagne at him. Didn’t happen… damn… otherwise it’ll be a great photo opportunity for the photographers. And +1 for drama:D

F1 experience (the free kind)

It’s the first ever night race in sunny Singapore. I’ve heard alot about the sounds those machines make, so I decided to hear it for myself. Some people say it’s louder than our army range, some say it makes your heart beat faster… the office workers said it’s damn irritating. When I first hear it after alighting from the cab at Chijmes, I thought it wasn’t too bad (till I got to stand 10 meters away from it at MS).

The crowd in town was amazing. Imagine, the crowd of 4 PC shows combined. Everywhere, I see people, on the sidewalks, slopes, bridges, stairways of hotels, rooftops, fences… etc. My friend told me about spidermans all over the place. “Did you see this ang moh woman in skirt climbing up the fence?” Erm… nope… but I hope she doesn’t cause any car crash.

It was a very nice experience, not just to see/HEAR the powerful machines zoom past, but to soak up the atmosphere and all the happenings. It’s actually quite entertaining to see the lady next to you trying to catch the car zooming past on the camera… I know I’m not exactly kind because I laugh everytime she misses (which meant I laughed throughout). And the whole bunch of people who are trying to take pictures/videos of the race at one particular section (see below). I guess they didn’t know the qualifying was televised on Star Sports.

I hope there will be drama tonight. The more drama, the better it is. I’m praying for rain for the last 15 laps. The heavier, the better.

it’s been awhile…

…since I attended a wedding, as a guest. You know, that kind that have to give red packets:P j/k. Edwin, the guy who started wedding photography with me invited me to his wedding dinner tonight. It feels strange to be sitting down in a wedding banquet. When I saw him, he jokingly asked me, “didn’t bring your camera?”. I replied, “can you just let me be normal for once?”

I left halfway through the dinner as I felt a little unwell, I think the flu bug has caught up. Need to get some medication tomorrow. Can’t believe we ran out of panadols. While I was driving back in the heavy downpour, alot of random thoughts (with regards to weddings) went through my mind.

I think, I prefer to be special (abnormal if you like).

something extra:

my super duper cool looking dry cabinet arrived today! my camera equipments got their home upgraded from tents to bungalow now!:D

new tricks from wakeboarding. manage to land some 2 wake toeside 180s. i’m loving my board, it’s giving me consistency. but i dropped it and it got scratched:(

tomorrow, more work to do… hopefully the fever goes away. else i’m going to call in for MC. where’s my mirror?

.

feels very x-men to me

Yes, this picture.

Now I’m really hungry. I think I need food. Some updates, I decided to put the wakeboard purchase on hold (again)! Chris told me it’ll be better if he lend me his board (nothing to complain since it’s a ronix ONE:D) since he won’t be wakeboarding for awhile. Alritie mate, I think that’s a good suggestion. I’ll get mine in time to come when I decide to do cable a little more seriously.

Olympic snippets

Oh yes, we finally have our silver medal. Nevermind the foreign talents (read so many comments on blogs and forums until my eyes also blur). Me also foreign, my mum say she picked me up from a rubbish bin. But I no talent. Maybe I’m local.

I’m not too sure why people get so upset of WE (Singapore) getting excited over “foreign talents” bringing back medals. Maybe I get excited because they are representing something I like (table tennis), some country I like (Singapore… I like the food, oh oh… and the government and world peace). It’s abit like how the local Man U fans get all excited over their team winning the Champions League. It’s sports afterall. Seeing a country that waited 48 good years to win a medal does make me feel abit for them. Moreover, it’s my country. I was watching it with my housemate (who coincidentally is an athelete). After Feng Tianwei won the first game, he stretched his hand over and I gave him a hi-five. Don’t think so much, it’s sports, enjoy it.

I read a report earlier today and they said Li Jiawei is a Beijinger. I thought the term Beijinger (like Newyorker, Londoner) is quite cool. I stay in Serangoon Gardens, so I must be a Gardener:D

After the table tennis game, we switched over to volleyball. The commentator must be the best one I’ve ever heard. He’s so darn funny!! It’s almost like a stand up comedy. The commentary is more interesting than the game itself, marginally better than the Italian volleyball girls:)

CONGRATS Singapore!!!:D

What a nail biting table tennis match between Singapore and Korea! Singapore won 3-2 in the womens team event!! Our first Olympic medal after like… donkey years. Freaking exciting!!! Unbelievable. My heart was pumping so hard I thought I’d die man.

Li Jiawei lost her game, but then, it’s ok. She’ll bounce back like a ping pong ball for the Singles event.:D

加油 Team Singapore!!

wooohoo!! Li Jiawei!!:D

My phonelines and network will be down from 2:25pm – 530pm. You call me, I kill you!:P *LOL*

Damn, Federer is out… don’t worry dude, it’s ok. You will bounce back… only when you hit the wall, just like a tennis ball:D Unless Kago catches it:P

Euro thoughts

Heh, can’t imagine putting my thoughts on the Euro 2008 on this blog. Let me start by saying I was extremely happy when England didn’t make it:D Alright, throw rotten tomatoes at me… I don’t care, I just don’t like them:P

My usual support goes to Portugal, Spain, Czech Republic and Italy (oh… those cute boys:P LOL!!!). Expected Portugal to do well, so no surprises, they are into the QF. Although I was hoping that they’ll draw with Czech Rep rather than beat them 3-1. My heart broke when Czech crashed out after losing to Turkey in the final 3 minutes of the game. It’s one of the teams that I really like. Pavel Nedved (retired) was my hero man, he was like the OEM version of Zidane. Unfortunately, they can’t hold their nerves till the final minute.

Spain’s doing great as well. Italy is one of my favorite teams as well. And I hate don’t fancy the French (the football team). They appear stuck up to me and they have to beat all my favourite teams in the last 2 championships, Portugal (last minute penalty… remember?). While I wasn’t cheering when Zidane got sent off during the last World Cup final, I was pretty happy that Italy won:D That was SWEEEEEEEEEEEEEET! And what could turn out better last night? They did it again!!:D

I haven’t been watching all the matches, but of all my four fave teams, I really like how Italy and Czech played. Maybe they didn’t produce the best results, but I really love their style:) I don’t care if they don’t win, just stay long enough so I’ll get to watch them play.

oh oh… one more thing. Chris and Pris just told me that gays don’t play football!! Heng ah…BBLG:P woohoo!!:P
