A Starry night

I have been seeing people posting shots of the Milky Way taken in Singapore. As incredible as it sounds, it has been done and I want to give it a try. Well, I made my attempt after a long day of editing behind the computer. The result shows a very faint trace of the Milky Way on the left hand edge of the branches where Elliot and ET is heading. That’s where Scorpio is and is probably the brightest part of it. Even then, I couldn’t quite make it out without applying some really heavy handed editing which I omitted from this version. I guess I was off with my positioning this time round. Nonetheless, I had a good time standing under the stars. Will try again tomorrow if the skies are clear.

Gold Rush

Merry Christmas everyone! Hope you are enjoying a good break from work. While I’m not really having my break, I’m quite happy that I got a very rare 4 hour nap this afternoon. Thus this post at 3am.

Here’s a little something from the trip. When I peered into that dark overhang, this was the scene that greeted me. It’s a little spooky because I have no idea what was lurking within that dark tight space. I later found out that there are a number of huge ass snappers residing in there and a super big free swimming moray eel at the back of the overhang. I seem to have this habit of staying in a single spot for ages these days. The lesser I try to look around, the more I see. I am already looking forward for another trip.

Buffet

This is the glass fish symphony. Thousands of glass fish in high speed coordinated movements. The fact that they do not leave the the confined overhang makes the experience even more surreal.

Super Trees

An awesome night with friends and ending up shooting the sunrise at Gardens by the Bay. We can definitely do this again soon!

My first mountain

And it’s Mount Batur in Bali. I didn’t go all the way to the peak, but this view was pretty much good enough for me, for now. I have to say, I really enjoyed the climb and am hoping to do more of these hikes.

The great leap forward!

I see them in videos all the time. But seeing so many of them in real life in the wild… woohoo!!:D

The familiar arch over the water

I took a short trip to Bali last month to check out some of the less traveled places. Here’s something that I’ve longed to see. My next dream is to be able to swim with them in the wild. On my last day there, we saw about a hundred of them around our boat. Such a wonderful feeling.

Showtime.

To be honest, when I saw the forecast a week before the trip, I prepared myself mentally that I might not even see any lights at all because of the weather. This is truly a lucky opening.
