A good hand

Like the Thai saying, same same but different. That’s how I view pictures of people holding hands. I have a friend who used to be a cashier and saw hundreds of hands a day at work. She told me she had always been fascinated by them and could relate to the hand pictures I took. Although I don’t get to see so many pair of them at work, but I love it when I get a good hand moment. I can’t tell you how, but you know it when you see one. This is one of them.

Final touches

Most people wear their earrings the same way. But some are more special than others. I really like how Ivy did the final touches.

Silent interactions

In my opinion, the beauty of photography is speaks of a moment where things come together. Anything beyond that moment might tell a different story. I love this image of the bride and the grandmother. Honestly, I cannot remember why and how I took this. But moments like that that keeps me on my toes, constantly searching.

Oh yes, Happy Valentine’s Day to those who care. And to those who are on your own, what are you waiting for? Get a beer and blast some Bon Jovi songs!:D

It’s a wrap!

The warm weather is slowly creeping back. With it, something else more sinister, the haze. I just read reports that trans boundary haze might be making a return because of plantation clearing. While the wind is in our favour, but we do not know how long this will last. Being someone who loves natural air than aircon, this is not very good news for me. For now, I just hope for the best. I do not want to be cooped in an aircon environment to do my work.

Speaking of work, the new year break kinda ended and I have been going full throttle on work. Looking through the images below reminded me how I feel whenever I complete a set of images. This were some of the last shots taken for a morning shoot and the second picture was taken when I told them that we are calling it a day. As much as I enjoy shooting, nothing beats going home after a good day out:)

Tired shoes

On a typical wedding day, we need to be on our feet anything between 6-12 hours. Having a pair of comfortable shoes is something that is quite important. I’m quite a big fan of Crumplers Campers (it’s the bak kwa that clouded my mind) because of it’s wide toe box and they are incredibly comfortable. My last 2 pairs broke as the sole came off. I’m going to repair them when I find some time later this month. Feels good to make old things work again. Currently I’m on Crocs and I have to say these reptilian shoes really last.

Bride with her shoes off while sending off the guests. It’s not an uncommon sight, but I found this one in a position that tells the story.

Polaroids fade, but kinship doesn’t

Wishing readers a Happy Lunar New Year! 家和万事兴!

I was just looking at my Lookback on facebook and it does give me somewhat a walk down memory lane. Social media has changed the way we interact to a certain extent. In fact, much of our past few year’s memories are buried deep within the social network. Sometimes I wonder, when social networks eventually dies or evolves into something else, will we still be able to retrieve our memories from Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, etc? Even at this point in time, I don’t think there’s an easy way to download the images that one have posted on these platforms, let alone status updates, notes, etc. Thinking too much? Or a real concern?

Well, for now, social network still rocks:D Even though it’s quite time wasting and a total productivity killer. I need to live my life, starting this year.

Spring cleaning

This is the first time in my life I felt spring in Singapore. The weather has been wonderful for the past 2 weeks. After clearing the last bit of work today, I will have to spend the whole of tomorrow doing my spring cleaning and also getting afew pieces of new clothing. I can’t remember when was the last time I bought new clothes and so I think it’s about time refresh the wardrobe. Speaking of Spring, we have not seen any rain for the past 2-3 weeks too. The tell tale sign is the amount of dust on my eco-friendly (the kind that doesn’t need to be washed) car. My dad dusted his hand after opening my car boot the other day and I think that says alot.

Here’s one from the last wedding I’m working on before welcoming the Lunar New Year.

Perfect conditions

In the midst of all that train breakdowns, fare increases, slack immigration and rich banker’s comments… did we notice that the weather has been almost perfect for the past few weeks? Someone was telling me that such weather usually lasts about 10 days a year before CNY (not that I have ever noticed it) but have extended this year. No one’s complaining, but very few people are talking about it. Anyway, I was thinking if this is the kind of weather we get all year round, wouldn’t Singapore be one of the best places to live in? Well, at least for those of us stuck here, it’ll be somewhat of a consolation isn’t it?:D

Anyway, this is an image from a wedding I shot 2 months back.
